Nightshift 2002
Art Gallery of Hamilton
Nov.2 to 22, 2002
Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada put on a show at the Art Gallery of Hamilton to showcase works done by the students and faculty of the Continuing Education Department. When asked by the Programme Manager of Visual Arts if I had anything to show, I mentioned my motorcycle. After a number of calls to the gallery to iron out the logistics of putting my bike on display, I received a green light to "go for it". Rest assured I received more than one quizzical look as I cracked the throttle to drive into the shipping elevator and on to the gallery floor. Although I would have enjoyed riding through the long corridors of the gallery, I was asked to shut her down and push the bike to it's display area... bummer!
She's a 1986 Yamaha Virago 750.This bike is a work in progress. So far, I've done the paint job (using Createx Auto Air Paint), had the seat reshaped and upholstered and adapted Harley Sportster forward controls.
